THOUGHTFUL LANDSCAPES, ROOTED IN ECOLOGY

Dalton Langdon | Landscape & ECOLOGICAL Designer

I design landscapes with people, plants, and ecosystems in mind. My approach is rooted in ecology and land stewardship: I see landscapes as living systems shaped by soil, water, plants, and time, not just spaces to fill or maintain. Every project is an opportunity to create something that is both beautiful and resilient, supporting wildlife while meeting human needs.

My journey into landscape design began with a shift in perspective. Influences from ecological writing, particularly Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass, reshaped how I understand the living world and our relationship with it. That perspective ultimately led me to leave my previous career and pursue a Master’s in Landscape Architecture at NC State, where I deepened my understanding of ecological systems, native plant communities, and site-responsive design.

I specialize in residential landscapes, working closely with clients to craft gardens that reflect their vision while responding to the conditions and potential of the site. From small backyard renovations to fully reimagined spaces, I emphasize native and adaptive plant communities, seasonal interest, and ecological function.
